Char Blabs About ‘Somewhere Beyond The Sea’

When people talk about sequels, most of the time, it’s a negative response. However, sometimes you get a sequel that is better than the first. One that blows you away, just like the first book did. That’s how I feel about ‘Somewhere Beyond the Sea’ by TJ Klune.

Arthur Parnassus has a good life. He has a home that is full of laughter and smiles. The only problem is that his past might shatter what he loves. Arthur and his partner Linus continue the fight against the Department of Magical Youth. The other issue is that the Department holds all the strings on his hopeful adoption of the kids in his care. He is the headmaster of an orphanage but refuses to call it anything other than a home. With the help of his partner and kids, he finds himself and wages a battle against the people who want to rip everything apart. Will this family stay together? What happens when another child is thrown into the mix?

I was so surprised at how beautifully this book was written. I referenced the first book as a warm hug, and this book is also a warm hug. Something about TJ Klune’s writing makes you feel content. I don’t know how else to describe it, but it’s like music. One ballad that has its ups and downs.
As the snow blankets Minnesota, ‘Somewhere Beyond the Sea’ wraps you in a cozy embrace, perfect for this time of year. The characters are so intricately crafted, with such depth, that you can’t help but form a bond with them, whether of love or disdain. David’s theatrical flair never fails to bring a smile, especially his memorable audition for the orphanage. It’s these moments that make the book a warm, comforting read.
I couldn’t tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the characters and all the twists and turns the author threw at you. My only problem was that I wanted more, and there wasn’t anything else to read to keep the story going. TJ Klune might write another book, but if anything, I know this book was cozy and made me so happy. I want everyone to read this story so I can talk about the characters and the plot. I know I will certainly read more of his books in his backlog. So stay tuned for that!
