Char Daydreams About ‘Daydream’
Hockey romances are so popular right now, so why not review another one? Why not review the third in a series that I feel started the craze? Daydream by Hannah Grace is the third book of the Ice Breaker series.
This story delves into the life of Halle, a college student and family manager, as she grapples with her identity in the aftermath of a long-term friendship breakup. Her solace lies in her book club, a safe haven where she can be herself. It’s during one of these meetings that she encounters a tall, handsome stranger indulging in the cookies she had prepared for her fellow book lovers.
Henry is this year’s hockey captain and is struggling to fulfill this role. He’s not actually sure that he wants the position, so when a friend drags him to a bookstore, he decides to hide and eat some delicious cookies set out for a book club.
When Halle and Henry’s paths cross, they discover a mutual need that draws them closer. What begins as a study session soon blossoms into a budding romance. Their relationship is not like any other-it’s uniquely theirs. Henry, who struggles with crowds and loud noises, finds solace in his friends, while Halle is on a journey to prioritize herself. Can they navigate these differences and make their relationship work?
If you’ve read any of my reviews, you will know that by now, I love romances and series. Ice Breaker, Wildfire, and Daydream are no exception. I have found that Hannah Grace writes characters that really feel like real people, and it’s something that I admire about her writing, so obviously, when I saw that she had a new book coming out, I had to pick it up. Henry has hit me hard as I have struggled with mental health and also have ADHD. As many people do these days, reading about nonperfect people has made books feel natural and more authentic. I have been finding that a connection with a character is not perfect. I love how she weaves these beautiful moments into a story. A lot of romances fall short of either the characters or the plot, but this one didn’t. I really enjoyed this book, and I totally cried and laughed. Now, I hope there’s a next book in the future to see how Halle and Henry’s relationship progresses.
