Char Read ‘The Nightmare Before Kissmas’
What do Christmas and Halloween have in common? They both bring joy to the world. In the book ‘The Nightmare Before Kissmas,” by Sara Raasch, you explore not only what each holiday brings to the table but also an adorable queer romance. This book is great for the transition between holidays.
Two princes and one Princess of Easter. What could go wrong? Prince Nicholas of Christmas is forced to marry his best friend Iris, the princess of Easter until the Prince of Halloween shows up to compete for Iris’s hand. The problem is that Hex and Coal have met before and had a brief makeout session behind a bar, and they can’t forget it. Plus, this competition is fake. Coal is already the winner. Coal must pretend to keep his emotions in check when Hex is around. The problem is Iris is all for their relationship and plays it against them. Seriously, what could go wrong?
This book gave me a ‘nightmare before Christmas’ vibe, and let me tell you, it was totally delivered! Right from the very beginning, I fell in love with the characters. Coal is a lovable guy, even though he has some significant self-esteem issues. I found it interesting how he worked through all that and became a better character as the story continued. Hex, on the other hand, is an overly cocky guy who is also very confident. He is hiding some faults underneath all that, but he’s just so lovable. He also has some excellent style!
