Char read then loves ‘The Sirens’
Mermaids and Sirens, with their enchanting allure, have always fascinated many. Imagine a world where the call of the water holds the key to solving a mystery. Emilia Harts’s book ‘The Sirens’ weaves a tale that brings these mythical creatures to life in a way that’s truly captivating.
It starts with a song of the waves but more. Lucy wakes up one day with her hands around her ex. Her world is thrown upside down. She has no recollection of how she got there. Scared and not knowing what to do now, she grabs what she needs and flees to her sister’s house. Only her sister isn’t home. At her sister’s house, she finds her paintings. Something about them pulls at Lucy. She recognizes the people in them. While hiding from her hectic life, she discovers her missing sister’s diaries and learns the truth behind everything. Can she handle the truth?
I first decided to pick this book up because I love the idea of mermaids. The women who lure men to their deaths by song. It’s always intrigued me, so when I find a book about the darker side of it, I can’t help but want to read it. I was not upset to see that this book was everything I wanted. I loved the mystery behind Jessica’s disappearance and the unknown truth about Lucy’s past. I found the story so lyrical and well-written that sometimes I forgot what I was reading. I could vividly picture this story in my head. I was so immersed. I can’t wait to have people read this book, so I can’t talk to everyone about it. It’s all about the bond between sisters and their love. What could be better than that? Oh, and a bit of mystery, crime, and multiple timelines. Seriously, pick this book up and put it on your to-read list.
