Red Read for Pride Month!
June is Pride Month, and because of this, I have decided to challenge myself to read books that feature a color. I’m going to read The Rainbow, starting with my favorite color, Red. I have chosen the book The Tenant by Freida Mcfadden. If you can’t tell by the picture of the book, the cover is red, so I thought it would fit perfectly with the red theme. I also chose this book because I’ve been reading a lot of romance and needed something different; however, I’ll probably include romance in the challenge. I love Freida, and her books are like candy! I can’t put them down! I’ve read most of her books, so I’m very excited to read this book!

The Synopsis:
There’s no place like home…Blake Porter is riding high until he’s not. Fired abruptly from his job as a VP of marketing and unable to make the mortgage payments on the new brownstone he shares with his fiancée, he’s desperate to make ends meet. Enter Whitney. Beautiful, charming, down-to-earth, and looking for a room to rent. She’s exactly what Blake’s looking for. Or is she? Because something isn’t quite right. The neighbors start treating Blake differently. The smell of decay permeates his home, no matter how hard he scrubs. Strange noises jar him awake in the middle of the night. And soon Blake fears someone knows his darkest secrets… Danger lives right at home, and by the time Blake realizes it, it’ll be far too late. The trap is already set.
Starting on June 1st:

I’m thrilled to begin reading this book! I just grabbed my copy from the store, and now I need a chair! The best approach for me is to jot down my thoughts as I read and then provide a review. I hope you guys enjoy this type of post!
Chapter 20: Blake is paranoid, although he does have some reason to be, but not to this extent. Wow…..
Chapter 28: Um, dude, you are messed up…. He seemed normal in the beginning, but now he is mental! Holy moly. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to finish this book. This guy is going to kill his roommate.
Chapter 43: Oh Snap!!!! Wait What!?!?!?! How did I not see this coming?
Chapter 45: Oh man, it’s switched…. Now, I’m unsure of what to expect.
Review:
Freida, you are a queen at what you do! Although I did learn that Freida is just a pen name and that the actual woman behind the writing is a physician specializing in brain injuries, that’s probably why she’s so skilled at what she does. She understands what will signal a response! She is truly a fantastic woman. Her writing, though, is so convincing that you not only feel for some of her characters but also want them to be the bad person. I love all the twists and turns.
Initially, I felt so sorry for Blake. He lost his job and was struggling to find something else. I get that feeling. The emotions he was showing felt so genuine, and you could feel as though you were in his shoes. As the story progressed, so did Blake’s madness. I mean, wow…. He was crazy, and I felt so bad for Whitney, but I also hated her. Krista felt almost like an angel. Seriously, all that just took place in this book was crazy! I couldn’t believe it!
